Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law

With issue three due out soon, we caught up with writer, Nick Lyons, to chat about the Warlock comic book.

The series is described as:
A new story based on the cult film Warlock from Lionsgate. The Warlock is on a mission to destroy a book that contains a spell which imprisoned six other Warlocks. If the book manages to be destroyed, the dangerous Warlocks would be released back into the world free to cause chaos and destruction. It's up to a rag-tag group of people to prevent the Warlock from carrying out his plan!

TheBig Bad Wolf: Would this book appeal to horror fans that may have neverseen the Warlock films? Can you catch us up to date on the Warlockstoryline?

Warlock comicNick Lyons: This comic series will absolutely appeal to those who know nothing about the series. I wanted to make this series accessible. I didn't want it to be a continuation of the film series. Instead, I have written a new story about a new Warlock whom is trying to destroy a spell book in order to release 6 other Warlocks who have been imprisoned.

TheBig Bad Wolf: Let’s talk about the main character in the book, whosurprisingly isn’t the original Warlock played by Julian Sands. Can youexplain why you were unable to use that character but BlueWater has theWarlock license?

Nick Lyons: I don't know the entire story, but I was told that Bluewater could notuse Julian Sands likeness. I was a little bummed to hear that myself, but I think it all worked out in the end. The Warlock character in thecomic series definitely has similar character traits to Sands' Warlock, but I decided to make him a different character.

The Big Bad Wolf: Horror fans love blood and gore. Will this book satisfy their appetite?

Nick Lyons: I think so. I didn't go over the top with blood and gore, but horrorfans should definitely get a kick out of the gruesome death scenes inthe series. For those interested, I will say that issue 3 has anincredible two page spread of pure Warlock mayhem. It's my favoriteartwork of the series.

The Big Bad Wolf: Speaking of that, can you give us a death scene that occurred in the past two issues?

Nick Lyons: My favorite death scene in the first two issues occurs in issue 1 whena police officer chokes to death on bugs after the Warlock cast a spellon him.

The Big Bad Wolf: When can we expect the next issues, #3 and #4, to be released?Warlock comic

Nick Lyons: I believe issue 3 will be in stores June 3. Issue 4 is currently scheduled for late June or early July.

The Big Bad Wolf: What can we expect from the rest of this series?

Nick Lyons: Without giving away too many spoilers, I will say that readers can expect plenty of Warlock action and an intense ending.

The Big Bad Wolf: When the series ends, will this be collected as a TPB?

Nick Lyons: There will be a trade paperback! Details about the release date should be announced shortly.

The Big Bad Wolf: Will we see any movie survivors in this series?

Nick Lyons: I'm afraid that none of the characters from the 3 Warlock films are in the 4 issue mini-series.

The Big Bad Wolf: In closing, what would you like to say to our readers about the Warlock series?

Nick Lyons: I just hope that fans and non fans of the franchise enjoy reading this series!

The Big Bad Wolf: Thank you for your time, Nick! Best of luck with the Warlock comic!
